2020

During Lockdown I did not go anywhere. I reflected upon the work I had made over the last few years and decided to venture in a new direction; symbolic of the present situation, and to try and work without expectation. I stepped outside, into a landscape I knew well and yet not. I had walked through it but not in it. The forest was as beautiful as unsettling; as much about the ground as my groundlessness, as I felt unanchored behind my home, surrounded by tilting trees. The experience of processing the year as it was/is unfolding with the camera as my refuge is embedded in the pictures. Each image acts as a mirror in that it reflects back to the viewer the mix of emotions of the greater part of 2020, as well as revealing a necessary respite.
